Two huge bingo wins for players from Coatbridge
29th August, 2008
Two bingo players from Coatbridge, which is near Glasgow, each won huge bingo jackpots on the national bingo games platinum jackpot this year, making some people wonder if that’s just a lucky place to be.
The first winner, Soraya Lowell, won more than £1.1 million, which was the biggest bingo win in history, on the 23rd of March. She had the historic win on the platinum jackpot prize.
The latest winner, also from Coatbridge, took home £168,000 for her bingo win after playing at the local Gala Bingo hall at the Faraday Retail Park in Coatbridge. The winner was a 62-year-old woman who decided not to be named, but she didn’t mind being quoted after the win.
“I am still not over the shock yet,” the lucky winner said. “But I am delighted, over the moon. I have been playing bingo since I was old enough and started going with my mum. I have always played at the same club, it was the County then. It was really strange. The date was the 27th of the 7th and the last two numbers I needed for the full house were 7 and 27.”
The lucky winner made the full house in 43 numbers, which was fewer than any other participating bingo hall in the nation. The platinum jackpot prize then paid out £160,250 and the regional prize was £6,880. In addition to these huge numbers, the zone prize paid out £1,064 and the Gala Bingo house prize was £65. This made the woman’s total winnings £168,844.
