Television Bingo in Production

25th February, 2008

ITV are set to host "Bingo Night Live" in place of ITV Play programs.

Rumoured to be based on the American and Australian versions of the show, Bingo Night Live is a new, free to play show, where you download cards to your own television.

Bingo Night Live is a replacement for the series of ITV Play programs which charged viewers a fee to play over the phone. Whilst successful these programs recieved many complaints, regarding issues such as premium phone rates, and were subsequently taken off air. Bingo Night Live will be free to users who register and download cards on the internet. The aim of this is to direct users to the ITV website, where they can find other games, some of which are paid for.

When it starts, Bingo Night Live will, for an hour's duration, be aired at midnight on weekends. The ITV Productions and Developments have said that the free to play show itself will offer prizes of up to £1,000 and that there is more to be won online.

An unnamed source has been quoted "This is a clear sign ITV still wants to be a player in the gaming industry." ITV also believe that if television can be anywhere near as successful as online bingo then it will only be a matter of time before all online bingo providers are looking for a TV slot.
