Pensioner wins big at bingo

A Hartlepool pensioner has been given a special Christmas treat after winning more than £17,000 playing bingo at Mecca Bingo.
The winner struck lucky at the Mecca Bingo club in the Warrior Retail Park where she walked away with the jackpot.
Although she wished to remain anonymous, she told Hartlepool Today: "I was delighted to be told how much I had won, but I was so shocked that I sat there shaking.
"I enjoy playing there because the other players are friendly and the staff are absolutely excellent."
The 75-year-old, who plays bingo four times a week, said that she had not yet decided where the money would be spent but that her family could expect to get some extra treats this Christmas.
Meanwhile, Mecca Bingo is said to have been approached by a buy-out firm about acquiring it.
The Sunday Times reports that Mecca ' s umbrella group Rank, has received a letter from private equity company Duke Street Capital about negotiating a deal.
