New bingo television show on ITV

2nd June, 2008

ITV will air a new bingo television show, hosted by Melinda Messenger and Michael Underwood, airing late at night and free for everyone in the UK to play.

To replace ITV’s Play TV block, the new show Bingo Night Live will air every midnight between Tuesday and Saturday, and will be an hour-long program beginning June 4.

“It’s the nation’s favourite game and accessible for all – its good clean fun, nice and easy to play and best of all it’s free,” said Melinda Messenger, presenter for the new show. “I really am pleased to be co-presenting a new game show based on an iconic UK game – I mean, everyone loves bingo.”

Players need to register and download bingo cards each night from ITV’s website. Michael Underwood will be caller of the game and Melinda Messenger will be presenter of the “Magic Number Draws.”

“Bingo Night Live will bring a whole new dimension to the nation’s favourite game with viewers playing from their homes for no cost at all,” said an ITV spokesperson. “The one-hour show will mix free-to-play bingo with entertainment with three main bingo games each night and Golden Jackpot prize money starting at £25,000 on launch night!”

The US recently had a similar program that did not do as well as expected, but people are hopeful of the future of this show because bingo is much more popular in the UK than in the US.
