New Gala Bingo Games To Raise £1.5m For Charity!
24th March, 2010
The guys at Gala Bingo have always been a rather charitable bunch, and as a result of this they are increasing the amount of charities bingo games on its site in order to raise £1.5million for Sue Ryder Cancer care.
The online bingo site smashed its initial target to raise £1million in 2009 and the Gala Coral Group is pledging to raise a further £500,000 this year.
One part of the numerous initiatives the company is taking to raise money for the worthy charity, there will be a dedicated Sue Ryder Care ‘Link Game’ which will take place each day at 7.24pm in 11 of the 90 ball bingo clubs instead of the current once per week each Tuesday.
10% of ticket sales from the games will be donated to the charity that provides expert care to those living with cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke and Huntingdon’s disease.
This initiative follows off the back of the award winning ‘Mrs Obama Bingo’ campaign where Gala raised £10,000 by utilising media and public interest over the inauguration of the American President, Barack Obama, by enlisting the help of his bingo loving mother, Kezia Obama.
Gala has also held a number of internal fundraising activities which includes collections and fundraising events like ‘Back to the floor’ where senior management hosted a bingo evening in Woking and 25 employees climbed Mount Everest in order to play the highest game of bingo ever.
Dr Colin Morgan, head of corporate responsibility for Gala Coral Group, said: “We’re proud to help Sue Ryder Care make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people each year. By increasing the frequency of the Sue Ryder Care Link Game from weekly to daily we are expecting galabingo.com to make a significant contribution to the overall Gala Coral Group target of £1.5miliion. We know the games are popular and we’re expecting our customers to be as enthusiastic as ever about supporting the charity.”
Sue Ryder Care became Gala Coral Group’s chosen charity after an employee vote in May 2008.
