New Bingo Venue for Elderly of Leicestershire

24th October, 2007

The already popular Lutterworth cricket pavilion recently announced that every Tuesday at 2pm, the cricket pavilion will be the location for the Lutterworth Age Concern’s bingo afternoon. This is an exciting opportunity for socializing inexpensively, as there is no entry fee and a card costs only 50 pence. Lutterworth is excited to provide their elderly community with another social community for them to engage in.

Many elderly who love to play bingo have found it hard as they age to both read the numbers and/or hear the caller. This is why Lutterworth is thrilled to have a new state-of-the-art digital bingo reader that will allow the participants to easily read the screen. Lutterworth gives thanks to Leicestershire’s Round Table group for donating £350 to pay for the new PA system and Reader that makes the bingo playing possible.

The Round Table’s chairman, Alan Stilgoe noted excitedly, “We hope the equipment brings much joy to all who use it. Our main reason for this [project] was to see moneys donated by local people used to benefit the local community.”

The town agreed the generous gift was well received and appreciated by all those involved. Martin Allen of Lutterworth Age Concern noted that the Bingo afternoons have become quite popular, and now the new system will make it immensely easier for the elderly, no doubt increasing attendance even more.
