Mum Copies Credit Card Details to Play Online Bingo

10th December, 2007

Kerry Burgess of Harrogate told magistrates how through the duration of her fifth pregnancy, she maintained a website for local businessman Mike Gregory, but the only compensation she received was a tumble dryer worth under £150. In retaliation, Burgess devised her own ‘payment plan’, using Gregory’s business partner, Lorraine Elger’s credit card details, to fund her online bingo playing.

After just three days, Burgess spent £1,120. According to prosecutor Zoe Simpson, Elger had visited Burgess in her home on October 15, and provided her with her credit card details so she could book a room in a hotel for her and Gregory. Burgess confessed she had copied her credit card details on that date after Miss Elger spotted the unusual transactions on her credit card bill.

Burgess pleaded guilty to fraud, and was conditionally discharged for two years and told to repay £500 of the money she’d gambled. Have a credit card that’s actually yours, and want to play some online bingo with it? Check out Foxy Bingo this month for some fantastic holiday specials!
