Ladbrokes Bingo Search For New CEO
15th January, 2010
Ladbrokes PLC, the owners of Ladbrokes Bingo have appointed headhunters, JCA, to begin the search for a new Chief Executive for the company after their current CEO Christopher Bell has announced he will leave the post later this year.
Bell is happy his departure from Ladbrokes is out in the open and is already lining up candidates for the job. Reports from the Telegraph say that Ladbrokes would prefer an external candidate for the role and are even looking for those from outside of the gaming arena.
It has been suggested that M&S Director, Carl Leaver and ex Easy Jet boss, Andy Harrison could be in the running for the position.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr Bell said, “It was a great relief to have his looming departure this summer out in the open. I did think about becoming an MP but someone said I’d have to sort my expenses out,” he said with trademark wit.
Ladbrokes’ shareholders are unhappy with the company’s current performance as they have come in below rivals William Hill. However all gaming business has been experiencing hardship recently in particular in casino and bingo operations. It has been reported that Ladbrokes are in £962million worth of debt.
Mr Stewart, the executive deputy chairman of stockbroker Cenkos said, “It was no surprise that some investors were cross. Ladbrokes said they weren’t going to have a rights issue and they had a one-for-two. Nobody has a great deal of joy when the share price underperforms peers like William Hill.”
Despite this, Ladbrokes bingo remains one of the top online bingo sites currently offering some very good incentives to players.
