Interest in bingo replaced by...computer games

17th December, 2007

The residents are bored of bingo and looking for something where they can strut their stuff! The Wii is the first video game console that has enticed the OAPs and games such as golf on Wii Sports and new game Dance Dance Revolution are filling the over seventies with excitement.

Nintendo said that their Wii has an average age of 29 at the moment but that is expected to surge as more people are now able to buy it (there was a severe shortage at the beginning). The console appeals to a much broader age range than other consoles and there are games which will appeal to kids, teens adults and seniors!

While bingo is still a popular hobby among the residents of the home, the Wii bowling nights are steadily catching up and stealing players!!

It is also great for their health as some of the games are energetic, such as the sports package which includes bowling, tennis, golf and boxing. One of the residents quipped; "Playing a Wii tennis game involves swinging the controller as if it were an actual racket. If you slice in your real-world golf game, you'll slice on the Wii, the advantage is, I haven't lost any balls yet!"
