Greedy sister taken to court

After one of the three sisters have acquired a huge bingo win of £50,000, the other two expected the win to be shared between all three equally, according to their verbal agreement, as described by the two sisters.
When Edna Sexton, 59, decided to keep her significant win, her two sisters, Linda Kenny, 53, and Doreen Thomas, 57, decided to take action against their “greedy” sister and took her to court to get their share of £16,666 each plus interest.
The two sisters insist the verbal agreement was reached between three of them in 2005, which stated that any bingo prize will be shared between the three sisters equally from then on.
Mrs Sexton opposes this by saying that their agreement was modified in October 2006, to allow any sister who wins over £1,000 to keep the winnings to herself.
Kenny said that Sexton got her win in June 2007, in Buckingham Bingo, on the family day out. "I actually bought Edna's National Game ticket for her because she was late arriving," the lady stated in court. She also added that at the time the winning was announced all three of them were "overwhelmed and completely excited". Mrs Kenny also said that when Sexton realized she is the big winner she stated that £10,000 will go to her bank, whilst the rest will be spent in a huge shopping spree. Mrs Kenny insisted that it was only later in the day that the winning lady changed her mind and decided to keep all the winnings to herself.
"She was saying: 'There's no reason that I'd share with you but I will give you £10,000 as a gift because you are my sister.'"
Mrs Kenny stated that on all previous occasions including the two £1,000 wins, the sisters shared the prize money.
Here is what Mrs Kenny told the court: "We always shared. We have never disagreed before until this £50,000 win. It was always done equally, none of us lost out. We always thought it was a binding agreement between three sisters. You trust each other as a sister. Until this win we stuck together. I always hoped for a big win - now this is the outcome. We didn't ever think it would come to this because we did not think anyone would renege on it."
