Gambling For Trouble On Holiday
31st October, 2007
Confused and agitated to say the least, 25 year-olds Sarah Holland and Carla Harrison from North Wales never expected to spend part of their holiday interrogated by the police. The two girls were on holiday in Altinkum, Turkey, where they decided to join in a fun bingo game in a local bar, innocently hoping to win free drinks.
However, the two girls had no idea there were any grounds to arrest and interrogate them for over four hours by local police officers. All gambling, including bingo is illegal in Turkey, which is something many Britons don’t every think about. They assumed at first that it was a big joke, but the polic officers weren’t kidding around about the £42 fine.
While on holiday it’s always good to have some fun, but don’t forget if you plan on gambling, look up local gambling laws before you jet off!
