16th July, 2008

The popular UK land and online bingo operator Gala Bingo has announced the launch of its new charity initiative that projects raising £1 million for the Sue Ryder Care charity.

The program is set to begin and will run for the next 18 months to raise the money a little over time, ultimately reaching the ambitious goal they have set forth.

“Everyone at Gala Coral is delighted to be associated with our chosen charity, Sue Ryder Care, and the outstanding work that they carry out,” said Neil Goulden, Gala Coral Group CEO. “We have a long history of raising money for a variety of good causes, now we are focusing on a nominated charity that the whole group can support. We are positive that the Gala Coral teams will get behind the fundraising initiatives, and help to raise as much money as possible.”

The Sue Ryder Care charity specializes in providing care for those with cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and many other serious illnesses. The charity also provides support for the families of the people suffering from such illnesses.

“We want to increase the hours of care and support we provide from four million to 10 million a year,” said Bridget Auger, manager of business development for Sue Ryder Care. “We’re excited about the potential of the link-up with Gala Coral because of the reach of its retail network and the dedication of its employees who voted us as their charity.”

The charity also provides assistance for people with terminal conditions, helping them have good quality of life.
