Concerns about charity bingo

28th February, 2008

As soon as Houston Country Commission has approved construction plans for the Country Crossing Entertainment Complex, citizens started expressing concerns about the charity bingo that is planned to be carried out for the charities in Houston County.

The commission stated that there is nothing citizens should be worried about, that all proceeds from the charity bingo will reach their destination through strictly controlled and recorded process management.

The way this bingo game will be played is unique in its own right, as the players will not be playing against the house, but against actual opponents.

Chairman Mark Culver thinks that the commission will do everything to make the citizens feel comfortable and at ease about the project, therefore addressing all their concerns.

Here is what Culver said about it: "There will be a Houston County charitable foundation set up; that will be the operating entity for the operation. Then that organization will fund the money to other organizations in the community."

Only charities are allowed to be operators for bingo games, meaning that aside from the winnings and expenses, the rest will go strictly towards supporting those charities.
