Charity Bingo Night in Moreton

10th December, 2007

Dawn Cowley, the mum-of-two from Moreton has had her share of family hardships over the past few years. Cowley’s late father, the well-known and loved community resident Edward “Nocky” Churchill, passed away five years ago from prostate cancer. In addition, Cowley’s three-year-old son James recently underwent a serious operation.

To express her gratitude to the children’s hospital as well as raise money for prostate cancer research, Cowley has organised a prize bingo night. Money raised will go to the Prostate Cancer charity, but also for the Children’s Hospital Oxford. This holiday season has proven to be an emotional time for Cowley, as she reminisces about previous months events:

“James had two operations, the first on September 17, when he had to have a skin graft. He went back into theatre on October 1, which was the fifth anniversary of Dad’s death,” she said.

Cowley went on further to describe the first class treatment which James received in the hospital, and she wanted to say thank you by putting on this charity night. The bingo night is scheduled for Friday, 21st December at 8pm, and is the third Cowley has organised. So far, she has raised £2,000 for The Prostate Cancer charity and she is expecting to raise at least £1,000 next week, to split between the two establishments.
