Bingo Raises Funds for Hospice
3rd December, 2007
The Bolton Hospice can thank chance for their recent fundraising efforts. They didn’t just find this money randomly, rather they raised funds by the ever-popular game of chance, bingo.
Over £600 was raised for the Bolton Hospice last weekend, as they took over the Mecca Bingo hall in the Bolton town centre, selling a selection of Christmas gifts.
Debra Graham, fundraising director at the hospice comments: “We were thrilled to join forces with Mecca Bingo who staged a special event for us. The facilities at Mecca are really impressive and bingo is completely up to date, nothing like when I used to go with my nan.”
For every new member who joined the bingo hall over the course of the day, Mecca donated £2 to Bolton Hospice. This was a lovely set-up for both, seeing that land-based bingo halls included Mecca Halls around the UK have been struggling since the advent of the smoking ban this summer. By donating to a good cause, they hopefully will boost customers, and keep the tradition of going to your local bingo hall alive.
