Bingo Winner Not Paid Out
12th December, 2007
According to Bev Milner of Acomb, she scored a winning board during the nationwide tele-link game. Despite doing everything to claim her prize, Clifton Bingo Club refuses to pay out.
On Sunday, December 2nd, Bev came with some friends to the Clifton club, a usual place for her and her mates. Bev paid £2 for two plays in the national link game, in which participants play against others from around the country through computers.
Bev claims she won on one of her boards, and followed the instructions to press the claim button and shouted for the game to stop. Yet, the game still carried on, and two balls later, someone else took the prize. Bev was told her second game board had not been properly activated, and she could not prove she had actually paid. Bev’s friend Diane, however, says she witness her paying for two games, and that there had been an unfortunate error.
Allegedly, the woman calling the numbers even noticed Bev’s claim, but the manager of the club did not. Bev spent most of the night with the manager, but there was just no softening of him to get the money.
Bev told the press, “I am not a scammer just out for the money. I just want what is rightfully mine. I would rather not have won than win and not get the money.”
