Bingo Caller of the Year Named

Blake Robson, 41, of South Shields Mecca Bingo took the national title this year after yesterday’s final in North London. The previous North-East champion turned national yesterday after spending a year as an ambassador for UK bingo, an important job this year after the slump of land-based bingo profits thanks to that lovely smoking ban.
The annual competition searches for UK’s best bingo caller. Heats are held in various regions, and all regional winners are sent to the finals. Robson won an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles as well as the chance to call bingo at one of Las Vegas’ top casinos, along with £500 and a trophy. Actress Lorraine Chase of Emmerdale presented Robson with his prize.
