Big bingo win: hard to believe

A woman at the Mecca bingo club in Taunton couldn’t believe it when she was told she had just won £30,000.
When the manager of the club came up to the 70-year-old woman to tell her she hit the national bingo jackpot, the woman told the man “not to be silly.” She was playing the Afternoon Delight game and made a full house in 40 calls, which is the fewest in the nation.
“I didn’t believe it when they told me how much I had won,” the winner said. “I was on my way out when the manager told me I’d got the national prize but I told him not to be silly.”
The winner’s husband thought she couldn’t have won more than 5£ playing bingo, but was shocked when he realized she had actually won thousands.
Big wins are difficult to believe, but in reality the woman made away with a huge stack of cash.
One of the biggest prizes won at Taunton Mecca Bingo club was £100,000 in a July 2006 UK bingo jackpot.
