A Bingo Decade

So what exactly do Microsoft and the online gambling industry have in common? Innovation it seems, according to a blog post on eGaming Review.

If you can think of a photograph full of long haired and fresh faced men back in 1978, you’ll see the spotlight shining on the youthful founders of Microsoft who brought about the scale of change not seen in such a small space of time since the industrial revolution.

Then if you think of a photo taken by a digital camera 20 years later of similarly young entrepreneurs, are they more advocates of change.

The answer is undeniably yes. The centuries old gambling industry is now forever fixed on the agendas of online gambling conferences which is now an industry in its own right.

It’s been said on numerous occasions that the online gaming sector should really be measured in dog years considering how much it has changed in the past 10 years.

The online bingo industry is unrecognizable from a decade ago. For example, its leading companies are listed in the stock markets; it uses technology to deliver entertainment to the masses completely replacing those that crammed on the bus that dropped players outside their local bingo hall.

Yet in this time it hasn’t lost any of its youthful, innovative pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit. This is despite many of us working in a super hot kitchen now wearing suits and leading companies full of innovative young people who have only ever known the internet age making them today’s pioneers and tomorrows chiefs.

The next ten years will see the online bingo industry progress from a teenager to a young adult, making it middle aged in dog years yet nowhere near a mature industry. The industry is set to change further claiming an even larger share of the overall gambling market.
