Rummy

Rummy

Rummy is a group of card games that includes the most popular form, Gin Rummy. When people talk of rummy, they will usually mean the specific Gin Rummy game rather than the family of rummy games. Rummy games are generally card-matching games.

Most rummy games (for example Gin rummy, Canasta and Mah Jong), will have common features, such as ‘melds’. A meld consists of three cards or more of the same rank or consecutive cards of the same suit. In some forms of rummy, you need at least four cards for the consecutive same suited cards to count as a meld.
